Q: How much influence does Ray Hadley really have?

Monday 02 June, 2014
A: Enough to get himself on a “most influential” list.

Much to Ray’s horror, his name was omitted from a list of the supposed “40 most influential men in radio” compiled by an internet blog.

Displeased by this blatant snub, Ray used his top rating 2GB morning show to berate the author, who was himself an influential FM radio executive many years ago.

Ray was perplexed that he didn’t make the cut along with other Macquarie Radio Network identities, including executive chairman Russell Tate.

CCT adds regional rugby league to the call list

Monday 17 March, 2014

The Continuous Call team is set to get up close and personal with its regional listeners in the first of what the show hopes will be many Final Farewell Tours (eat your heart out John Farnham).

Over the next couple of months the Macquarie Radio Network show will be broadcasting from different regional locations, promoting events in the local community and, of course, supporting grass roots rugby league.

Alan Jones sets the record straight as to who’s number one

Wednesday 12 March, 2014
Ray Hadley also takes the topic for a spin

This morning on 2GB, Alan Jones, took aim at the media, most of which reported KIIS and or Kyle and Jackie O as number one in Sydney.

Jones rightly pointed out that 2GB was, in fact, number one, by a long chalk and had been for 193 0ut of 194 surveys while his breakfast program produced a 15.2 share to Kyle & Jackie O’s 9.3.

He suggested that the main reason he was keen to set the record straight on behalf of 2GB’s hard working staff.

You showed us yours, we’ll show you ours: 2GB figures better

Thursday 27 February, 2014

This week we published online listening figures from 2SM, showing how John Laws' online listeners outnumber those of 2GB’s Ray Hadley.

And they do, by one measure. But that's only part of the story.

Hadley opens fire at Fairfax programmers

Wednesday 26 February, 2014
"They wouldn’t know quality talkback if it bit them on the ear," was how Ray Hadley described the executives and programmers at Fairfax Radio.

Returning to air today after time away to deal with his family issues, Hadley said reports that he and Alan Jones had scuttled a joint venture deal with Fairfax were wrong.

“No one from this radio network, or Fairfax for that matter, has ever spoken to me about this matter,"  he told his listeners.

Lawsie still on top… at least online

Wednesday 26 February, 2014

Earlier in the week we published some numbers from 2SM that showed that John Laws was far and away the most listened to announcer in his time slot with people listening online – even eclipsing the formidable Ray Hadley who is by far and away the most popular morning announcer on traditional radio.

Some of 2SM’s rivals were so incredulous they asked us to do a recount. Which, we have. Hence, the story’s back up.

Macquarie Radio revenue declines

Thursday 20 February, 2014
Macquarie Radio Network is another radio company reporting its financial results this week. MRS's financials for the period ending 31 December 2013 show a drop in revenue of 7% over the previous corresponding period, to $29.4 million.

The company's Sydney radio market revenue increased by 2.6% while ratings share decreased slightly from 23.5% to 22.8%. 2GB remains Sydney's top station and breakfast star Alan Jones has just recently returned to air after an extended Christmas break for treatment of a persisten back injury.

Changes in 2GB Newsroom, Jones still on the sick list

Wednesday 29 January, 2014

When she returns from covering the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Nat Peters will be moving in to the breakfast newsreader’s chair, with Mat Woolfrey as her editor.

Nat continues as Deputy News Director, working for News Director Erin Maher, who is afternoon reader and editor

Jason Morrison back on 2GB

Tuesday 21 January, 2014
In what may turn out to be a live audition for a return to 2GB, Ben Fordham today chatted to Jason Morrison.

In 2010, Morrison jumped ship from 2GB to do breakfast on 2UE, up against Alan Jones.

Later, amidst a range of changes at 2UE, Morrison was moved to drive, and, at the end of last year, was not renewed
