1XX New Zealand now on line

New Zealand’s Eastern Bay Of Plenty’s local community radio station and 2006 Provincial Radio Station of the Year, One Double X, is now streaming live on the world wide web.

The station has had several e-mails recently asking for an online audio service from listeners in other parts of New Zealand and overseas who use to live in the Eastern Bay Of Plenty and grew up listening to One Double X, and now the station is proud to announce that its programmes can now be heard through the world wide web 24/7, bringing the news and events of the Eastern Bay Of Plenty to a national and international audience.

The live online audio stream of One Double X began at 2pm on Tuesday 29th August.

The station broadcasts a mix of hot Adult Contemporary music and regional news and community information to the Eastern Bay Of Plenty on 90.5FM & 1242AM and to Ohope Beach on 93.0FM from studios on the corner of The Strand & McAlister Street in Whakatane.

The station has been on air since 30th June 1971, the 4th private commercial radio station on air in New Zealand, but the first private station in a provincial area of the country. 35 years later is one of the last remaining truly independent radio stations operating. One Double X is locally owned and operated by Radio Bay Of Plenty Limited who also operates a local rock station also based in Whakatane – Bayrock 97-7FM & 99-3FM and another local Adult Contemporary music and community information station – 92.9 Kiwi FM in Te Puke.
