Your personal playlist on Nova

Tapping into the iPod and mp3 trend for personal playlisting, Nova has launched a new initiative called The Playlist Project, which allows music lovers to broadcast their personal playlists on commercial radio.

The Playlist Project, powered by Nova and Myspace, and presented by Just Car Insurance, is the first collaboration between two music outlets that allows playlist creators to construct their own show on the Nova network.

If listeners think they have a great playlist, or know someone who has, then they can submit it online at www.theplaylistproject.com.au.

15 finalists, determined by an expert judging panel, will broadcast a one hour show from 10pm weekdays on the Nova network. The creator of the playlist with the most votes, as determined by Nova and Myspace audiences, will win a one week residency programming a nightly show on Nova and will score $5000.

Dmg’s Digital Product Manager Mohit Bhargava says:

“Digital media allows anyone to compile and broadcast their music playlists to reflect all aspects of their life from working out to road trips and parties. On Myspace alone there are over 110,000 playlists created each month in Australia. The Playlist Project has been developed to celebrate this and entrusts our audience with an opportunity to broadcast their playlist on Nova.

“We have been fortunate to secure the support of Just Car Insurance for this project, we share common values of encouraging self expression and celebrating individualism amongst the youth, be it their car or choice of music.”

Nova’s Playlist Project launches next Monday 7 February with registrations closing on 28 February. The one hour playlist broadcasts will kick off on Monday 7 March with the winner announced on 28 March.
