Womadelaide programs on Community Radio network

Listeners to community radio across Australia will be part of Womadelaide through 2 live to air programs this weekend on more that 60 community stations nationally.

Produced by Radio Adelaide 101.5FM, the programs come from on-site at Botanic Park and will feature live music from the concert stages, interviews with a wide range of performers and all the atmosphere of Australia’s most diverse and inspiring music festival.

Executive Producer Deborah Welch told radioinfo: “Australia’s community radio network is now huge and connected by satellite, so we’re picturing more than a million people – from Alice Springs to Perth, in tiny Cape York communities and in inner city Melbourne – joining those of us lucky enough to be in Adelaide”.

The broadcast team includes some of the best and most knowledgeable voices in world music in Australia. Seth Jordan joins the broadcast from Artsound FM, where he produces the Australia wide Radio Babylon. Kate Welsman (aka Systa BB), presents on 3PBS FM in Melbourne and is also a DJ at Wozone, the late night Womad dance club at the University. Fellow PBS broadcaster Roger Holdsworth has been doing world music on radio longer than almost anyone and Jane Costessi, former Radio Adelaide broadcaster, now presents on Sydney’s Eastside Radio. Behind the scenes is an even bigger production and technical team led by Executive Producer Deborah Welch and Technical Co-ordinator Don Balaz

The format is 2 x 3hr programs, Saturday 8 March / 5.30-8.30pm in Adelaide / 6-9pm AEDST and Sunday 9 March / 5.30-8.30pm in Adelaide / 6-9pm AEDST
