Will Bill Caralis turn up to court tomorrow?

Opinion from Peter Saxon. Bill Caralis is caught up in potentially the biggest court case of his life. Software giants Microsoft and Adobe are suing Bill, his wife and stations in the Super Network for using unlicensed products.

An initial hearing has already taken place with a discovery hearing set down for the Federal Court for tomorrow. The case is then listed for June 12.

If his past record is any indication, the camera shy Bill Caralis is unlikely to get anywhere near a witness box.  He usually settles matters out of court at the last minute rather than find himself the subject of a media frenzy.

No one has ever published an authenticated photograph of Bill Caralis and it is doubtful he would allow himself to be put in a position where the paparazzi could snap one on this occasion.

More likely he will be paying a very hefty sum to Microsoft and Adobe to make the matter go away. radioinfo understands he has already received an invoice.

On the other hand, we are told, that Microsoft, in particular is very protective of its copyright and often would rather sue than settle in order to make a public statement.

We’ll find out on the court room steps tomorrow.
