Why Perth people love triple j

Survey 2 for 2014 has seen Triple J go from 4th to 2nd spot in the competitive Perth market.

The result comes off the back of increased awareness of the station at the beginning of the year following the Hottest 100 and the rebranding of Dig Music to Double J.

Manager Chris Scaddan (pictured) said he was really pleased with the results.

“Generally we go up in some places and down in others, but the general trend over the past few years is steady growth. We’ve also had a great response to the Double J brand, our listeners get it and they are excited about Myf Warhurst coming on board, everyone loves her.”

When asked about why Triple J does so well in Perth, he immediately joked, “apart from having great taste and liking good music?”

“No, seriously, Perth has always been a really strong market for us. It is a bit unique with the national programming it delivers. It connects people to the rest of the country and to music they might otherwise not hear.

“Also Perth has great musicians and we have a long history of playing a high proportion of WA music.”
