Western Visitor Radio launches country station

Western Visitor Radio, the largest tourist radio network in Australia, has launched
its new narrowcast radio venture – The Country Mix 876.

The Dubbo Country Mix station officially started broadcasting on March 1st
and since then, “the narrowcast recipe of purely country music has been
proven to be a winner with country music radio enthusiasts in Dubbo.”

Ben Shields, the local president of the city’s peak country
music body, The Orana Country Music Association (OCMA), is the station’s PD, which “has really found a niche market with Dubbo listeners.”

Managing Director of Western Visitor Radio Ian Munro explains:

“The tourist radio network, or as listeners know it as Aussie FM has been a
great success. We are the largest and most successful tourist radio network
in Australia (all operating on FM 88) with a further planned expansion. We
are now planning a country music network on FM 87.6. Our new Country Mix
network, designed to compliment existing tourist radio stations is destined
to be equally as successful.”
