The Voice of Agriculture set to expand

SCA’s Rural Focus program is set go out to almost every rural market in Western Australia.

The program, ‘Rural Focus’ is currently broadcast from 9am each weekday across the majority of the RadioWest network. As of March 16th, it will also be broadcast across the Spirit Network, taking on an additional coverage area spanning from Geraldton to Kununurra.

The brainchild of former wheatbelt farmer Vin Dawes, Rural Focus has been on air for 15 years, and in recent years has seen two new co-hosts in Chayce Creedy and Danni Astbury join Vin on air. The three hosts have a combined 50 years’ experience in both the agricultural and radio industries.

The program covers all agricultural and rural issues related to grain, beef, wine, dairy, sheep, associated political matters and relevant market reports.

Each program is specific to the time of the year, bringing up-to-date information for harvest, seeding, shearing, lambing, spraying, field days and calving. The program targets not only farmers on-the-job, but all people involved in the rural industry.

SCA Regional WA General Manager Ashley Myatt said, “We’re extremely proud to be able to deliver such a long-running and highly-regarded program into an area which now covers most of WA’s rural community.”

Rural Focus host Vin Dawes said, “What excites me the most is the opportunity to bring a program with such a strong history of proven success of delivering results to businesses, both in the agricultural sector and in all areas of the economy.”

Redwave Media General Manager Ian Kennedy said, “Both the Spirit Radio Network and RadioWest have worked closely together in recent years to deliver great radio and results for listeners and advertisers alike. The decision to introduce the very popular Rural Focus programme into the Geraldton and northern wheatbelt markets will give agribusiness a massive opportunity to target new business within the Spirit radio network’s coverage area.”
