Veteran voiceover artist Tim Elliott passed away on Good Friday aged 75. Tim was one of Australia’s most sought after voice talents, best known nationally for his rich intonations as the corporate sound of the Nine network’s Sixty Minutes.
His voice was also heard on countless radio and television commercials each year talking everything from newspapers to automobiles.
He was narrator and/or presenter of innumerable corporate videos for both Australian and overseas clients such as Lever & Kitchen, P&O, Prudential, Singapore Airlines, IBM and Queensland Newspapers.
Tim, who was born in New Zealand in 1935, finally succumbed to pneumonia, a complication caused by bowel cancer. He passed away peacefully at his Blue Mountains home surrounded by family.
Legend.
A lovely guy and a sad loss. He was a true professional even to the end.
Four weeks ago he was lacking the strength to complete a voicover session, and apologised profusely. He vowed to come back and have another try when his health improved.
Tim really cared about his craft and he will be missed.
How this wonderful man will be missed. In this modern day era of light voices and senteneces always ending in upward inflections, we can ill afford to lose people like Tim Elliott. Tim was what voice artistry is all about. Painting a picture, creating emotion, selling a product. He was just so good.
We'll all miss you Tim, may you rest in peace.
