Vale Ian Marshman

Veteran announcer Ian Marshman passed away on Friday morning in Melbourne aged 58. He worked for at least 15 different commercial stations between 1972 and 1984. He is survived by son, Ty Frost who was until recently the Online Program Director for DMG Radio.

He told radioinfo, “My father passed away in Melbourne aged 58. Dad was recovering from a stroke at Epworth Hospital in Melbourne and was making an extremely good recovery, but had a sudden heart attack on Friday morning.”

Ian Marshman worked ‘on-air’ in virtually every role from midnight-to-dawn floater to breakfast guru and not-so-shocking talk jock at various radio stations beginning with 3HA Hamilton in 1972 and including 3MA, 3LK, 7HT, 3BO, 2GB, 2KY, 5AA, 3KZ, 3TR, 3DB & 3UZ.

Along the way he free-lanced at STV8, 5KA, NWS9, 3GL, 3AW & 3AK. Highlights included producing and co-hosting Newstalk at 3UZ, operations at 2GB, programming at 3BO & 3TR, and the unforgettable 3AK travel show.
