Vale Allen Brandt

Allen Brandt passed away on the weekend, just shy of his 100th birthday.

An intensely private man, Allen headed the Colour Radio Network and, along with Sir Frank Moore and Sir William Allen, was responsible for turning Ipswich regional station 4IP into an incredibly successful Brisbane Metro Station.

Ian Holland says, “(His) contribution to broadcasting can’t be understated, and among those who came out of the Brandt Stable were David White, Wayne Roberts, Ronnie Sparx to name a few.

“Allen Brandt was regarded as highly as Lewis Bennett and Rod Muir in the late sixties and through the 70’s.”

His funeral will be this Friday December 6th at 11am at St.Clement’s On The Hill Anglican Church at Eudunda Street, Stafford.
