Vale 3UZ's Ric Plant

Wednesday 04 February, 2015

Former 3UZ producer Ric Plant passed away in Queensland after a brief illness.

Ric was copy chief and producer at The Greater 3UZ

He was part of the very successful team at "The Greater" 3UZ when it was clearly number one in Melbourne back in the sixties.

Ric was not only a creative writer, but producer of the popular racing program, "Turf Talk", chaired by chief race-caller, Bert Bryant, and "Spotscall", a racing and general sport talk-back program with Des Spain and Jack Ayling ("The Ace").  He put together the blueprint of a Saturday morning racing format that is very similar to those used by racing stations today.

Ric is survived by his wife Kathleen and son Cameron. His funeral was held on Thursday.
