Two year charity deal with Southern Cross Austereo

Thursday 25 August, 2016

SCA will work with Oz Harvest, The Black Dog Institute and CanTeen over the next two years through its charity partnership program.

As part of SCA’s commitment to corporate social responsibility these three organisations will be provided with support via community service announcements and content opportunities across SCA’s extensive radio and television assets.

SCA’s COO John Kelly said, “We are excited and delighted to be able to work with three charitable organisations who have demonstrated both the need and potential to meaningfully address key social needs.

“We look forward to contributing our significant media assets and 2500 staff to assist them in growing and developing their charitable activities."

These partnerships will commence on 1 September 2016 and SCA staff will have the opportunity to contribute by getting involved with the charities.

Black Dog Institute’s Head of Public Affairs, Gayle McNaught said, “We're so excited to have the opportunity of working with the SCA team. Mental health is a significant issue for so many Australians and particularly for men, who are now more likely to die by suicide than car accidents or skin cancer.”

“This partnership will give us an amazing opportunity to share vital information and support across the country - reducing stigma, encouraging help-seeking and ultimately, saving lives.”

CanTeen CEO, Peter Orchard added, “We are absolutely thrilled to have been selected as one of Southern Cross Austereo's charity partners.”

“Many Australian families affected by cancer don't realise that CanTeen could be helping them, but thanks to this partnership we will be able to change that and achieve our goal of doubling the number of young people we support over the next two years.”

OzHarvest’s CEO and Founder, Ronni Kahn said, “The generous support of SCA will allow us to increase awareness across the country about the issues of food waste, food security and sustainability.

"By bringing to light our nutrition education and hospitality training programs for vulnerable youth and community engagement we will reach beyond our wildest dreams.

“Every $1 donated to OzHarvest will allow us to deliver two meals to those in need – and with SCA’s support we look forward to being able to deliver even more goodness together.”
