Triple M Newcastle tops its first survey, ABC 1233 makes solid gains

Triple M Newcastle has topped its first survey after rebadging from KOFM with 13.1%, down by 0.9% in the final GFK Survey for Newcastle this year.

While strictly speaking the rebadging happened after this current round, the figures will be a nice boost for the station.

ABC Newcastle 1233 made the biggest gains, up by 2.1 overall for 12.7% and moving into a clear second place in front of Hit 106.9.

Hit 106.9 is now in third place on 12.1 followed by triple j(9.2)and then 2HD(8.8) and NEWFM(8.7).

In the all important breakfast shift the ABC is just 0.1 behind Triple M with a gain of 1.6 taking them to 16.5.

What may be of concern is that there is now 27% of the audience that are not listening to any of the stations listed in the survey.

The Cumes also tell an interesting story with Hit 106.9 in front of Triple M, followed by NEWFM, triple j and then ABC 1233.
