Triple M Brisbane’s Robin Bailey talks about picking up the pieces after suicide

Urges men to reach out.

Triple M Brisbane breakfast announcer Robin Bailey spoke frankly today about how the suicide of her husband four years ago devastated her family.

Co-host of Marto, Robin and the Moonman, Bailey said ‘I want to talk about men’s health and I want to talk about suicide. My husband suicided four years ago, and the thing I want to say now, because there’s been so much talk in the media … everyone talks about the person who dies. They don’t talk about the people left behind.’

In the wake of high-profile suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Boudain, and in the middle of Men’s Health Week, Bailey spoke of the crushing effect suicide has on those left behind, including her three boys left without a father.

One caller struggling with mental health challenges credited Bailey for keeping him alive – having heard of her husband’s death four years ago and following Bailey’s journey, the caller said because of Bailey’s story, he has stayed alive for his family.

Bailey signed off saying It takes one decision to call Lifeline, that’s all you have to do. So please on this Men’s Health Week, reach out.’
