triple j reveals j Awards finalists

November is triple j’s Ausmusic Month, and the highlight is the J Awards. 

The Australian Album of the Year award is given to an exceptional album, for its creativity, musicianship and its contribution to Australian music. 

Joining #1 Dads, Ball Park Music, Chet Faker, The Preatures, Remi and Total Control, the final round of 2014 J Award Australian Album of the Year nominees are:

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard: I’m In Your Mind Fuzz 
Seekae: The Worry

Sleepmakeswaves: Love Of Cartography 

Thundamentals: So We Can Remember 

Honourable mentions go to Andy Bull, Angus & Julia Stone, Dan Sultan, DZ Deathrays, Illy, Kingswood, Luca Brasi, One Day, Sia, Sticky Fingers and The Amity Affliction for creating incredible works of art in 2014. 

For the first time, the awards include the Double J Artist of the Year. The inaugural award, which celebrates an artist or group who have had a standout year, and is judged by recorded output, live performances and contribution made to Australian arts and culture through their music, sees nominations go to:

The Unearthed Artist of the Year nominees on Weds 12 Nov, as well as the Australian Music Video of the Year nominees on Thurs 13 Nov. The winners will be announced at the J Awards in Melbourne on Tues 18 Nov and broadcast live on triple j from 5pm.
