Triple J paints the town red in Tasmania

Tomorrow (Friday Feb 28) Triple J’s drive time team, Mel Bampton and Charlie Pickering, are heading for Australia’s smallest state, to set a very big world record.

The University of Tasmania is the venue for an attempt at the record for the most people body painted at one time. The current record, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, is just over 100 people, so they’re expecting to smash the record.

Uni students and members of the public are invited to join in the fun, and make history at the same time. The rules say that the people being painted don’t have to be naked, but must at least strip down to their undies.

Once every body is painted, the Drive duo will be getting them to form a giant Triple J logo on the football oval, which is why they are painting everybody red.

As well as all this excitement, Triple J’s Mel Bampton and Charlie Pickering will be broadcasting live from the action, with local band Melatonin, plus special guests Pre-Shrunk doing a few songs live to air, as well as a full show after the broadcast.
