triple j’s One Night Stand is heading to Mount Isa
Tuesday 21 March, 2017
triple j’s One Night Stand will be taking this year’s line-up including San Cisco, Tash Sultana, The Smith Street Band and Thundamentals to Mount Isa in Northwest Queensland on Saturday 22 April.
triple j Content Director Ollie Wards says “Everyone at triple j is hyped for the most epic gig The Isa has ever seen! This will be the biggest blast the town has had since their daily 8 o’clock mine blast. The One Night Stand is one of the best things we get to do, taking killer live acts from around the country to regional towns like Mount Isa. We’re packing the J Van with snacks and our musical mates and can’t wait to make the road trip into Mount Isa in April.”
Mount Isa Mayor Joyce McCulloch welcomes triple j, saying “We’re so excited to have such a high calibre of live music come to the town, the event is so important for youth in regional areas. The One Night Stand is no doubt the biggest live music event to hit Northwest Queensland and I’m sure we will be seeing plenty of folk from all over the state and the country in The Isa.”
Mount Isa is one of the most remote locations triple j has ever held the One Night Stand, so to get to know ‘the oasis in the outback’ a little better they've put together a video tour with Harry, a Mount Isa resident and the 2016 winner of Australia’s Best Butt competition.
triple j Unearthed are also rapt to offer a big opportunity for one talented local act. As well as getting airplay on triple j and triple j Unearthed, they’ll get to play on the One Night Stand stage alongside San Cisco, Tash Sultana, The Smith Street Band and Thundamentals.
triple j’s free, all-ages concert is one of the highlights of the year and everyone is invited.
