Top 100 most played ads of 2017

Harvey Norman, National Tiles and Radio Alive campaign year’s top advertisers. 

Harvey Norman was the top brand of 2017 with 201,280 instances aired across 50 stations between 1 January – 12 December. Harvey Norman Holdings Ltd was also the top advertiser of the year, with a combined total of 333,915 spots – which includes Domayne, the second most aired brand of 2017.

NewFM aired the most spots for Harvey Norman with 13,278 ads played in Newcastle. Harvey Norman spots accounted for 10% of airtime of all brands listed above.

National Tiles took out third place with 100,404 ads aired across 28 stations, a considerable achievement with no spots aired in Sydney or Perth. SEN aired the most National Tiles spots during the year, with the Melbourne station advertising the brand 4,632 times.

The top category of the year was ‘Consumer Electronics Sales & Service’ accounting for 201,280 ads throughout 2017, followed by ‘Department Stores’ – 132,635 instances – and ‘Floor Coverings’ – 100,404 instances.

The top New Brand of the year was the Radio Alive Campaign from Commercial Radio Australia with 11,612 spots aired, followed by Telstra Pre-Paid Extra with 9,469 ads during 2017.

2GB aired the most advertising through the year with 246,145 spots aired between 1 January – 12 Deceber 2017, closely followed by other talk stations 3AW and 4BC airing 222,716 and 222,318 spots respectively.

‘Did You Know’ is based on commercial and song airplay data from radio and television stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Perth, Central Coast, Newcastle & Geelong.

This refers to the number of times a song or commercial (excluding Credits and Sponsorships unless mentioned) played as stated, by single station or single market or multiple markets or all markets monitored.
