Thumbs up for Jack

This Thursday Eyre Peninsula Broadcasters in Port Lincoln, broadcasting as Magic 899 and 5CC will be hosting a radiothon that aims to raise $10,000 in 10 hours for Thumbs Up For Jack.

Thumbs Up For Jackhas been organised to raise money fast for 7 year old Jack Kemp, who has spent the past four years in and out of hospital battling a rare form of brain cancer, enduring countless procedures and 5 major surgeries in his short life.

His fifth and final surgery 4 weeks ago was a success however only to the extent that it has lengthened the borrowed time his family have left with him.

The radiothon will run from 6 am to 4 pm this Thursday broadcasting live across both stations with a GoFundMe page to be activated Thursday for people to make a donation.

Eyre Peninsula Broadcasters General Manager Darren Allard said the concept came together in an astonishing short amount of time thanks to his staff.“I was approached on Wednesday Morning May 1st by a mutual friend of the Kemp Family and asked to assist in some way to help with the financial hardship the family is facing due to the distance between Port Lincoln and the Women and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide meaning the Family has been separated a majority of the time during Jacks journey, with Mum, Grace unable to work and Father Kain repeatably taking time off to support them. Within 36 hours my staff had banded together and come up with the concept along with several of our clients coming onboard to assist.”

Thumbs up for Jack fund thermometers will be placed around Port Lincoln in various locations for locals to keep up to date on where the fundraising is at throughout the day, with hopes that by 4pm Thursday $10,000 will be raised to help a local family in their time of need.
