Talking ’bout ‘My Generation’

Celebrating Australian pop culture.

The trivia, facts and figures used to build Australian radio programs like ‘My Generation’ and ‘Classic 9 at 9’ have been compiled in one handy reference, ‘For the Record: Australian Pop Culture 1964 – 2017’.

The book’s genesis dates back to the early 90s when author Steve Woods hosted K-Rock’s #1 morning program in Geelong. Part of the show was a feature called the ‘Classic 9 At 9; which looked at nine songs from a particular year, and Steve started adding news and information to complement the music.

Later, Steve moved to a radio syndication company MCM Entertainment, which produced weekly radio program “My Generation” across the country every weekend.  The original hosts were Countdown’s Gavin Wood, then Peter Harrison and Jono Coleman.

My Generation overtook “Take 40 Australia” as the biggest syndicated radio program in Australia, broadcasting into every market across the country & enjoyed by over half a million listeners every weekend. At its peak, the show was heard in 97 markets.

The book is the complete list of trivia used to build the program each weekend, with a foreword by Jono Coleman.
