ARN

Here are the highlights for ARN’s Classic Hits and Mix FM for the final survey of the year;

  • Sydney: Classic Hits WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda are back up to #2FM Breakfast with a 7.2% share, almost a full point over Nova at #3.

  • Melbourne: Mix101.1 is the biggest riser in their market (up 1.0 to 7.1%) and Chrissie & Jane are the biggest risers in Breakfast (a trend boding well for Sydney’s Sami Lukis & Yumi Stynes in 2013 perhaps?)

  • Brisbane: It’s a huge book for 97.3FM, back to #1 overall with a 13.5% share – and they biggest riser in the country, up 2.9 points.

  • Adelaide: Mix102.3 are the #1 station in Adelaide and Jodie, Mark & Snowy are the #1FM Breakfast. Classic Hits Cruise1323 also beats SAFM (8.1 to 7.9).

Hi everyone, in case you haven’t seen the results of today’s ratings, see media release attached and below.

Merry Christmas from everyone at 891 ABC Adelaide.

891 tops Evenings in Adelaide

Peter Goers received an early Christmas present in the Nielsen Radio Ratings survey released today – number one in his timeslot (Mon-Fri 7pm-10pm) in Adelaide with share of 14.8%.

The broader Evenings timeslot (Mon-Fri 7pm – midnight) which includes Goers’ Evenings program and the first two hours of Tony Delroy’s Nightlife, gained 2.8 points this survey up to 16.5% share, leaping ahead to number one in the market for the first time.

And its not just Peter Goers ending the year with a smile.

2012 was the first year of 891’s current line up, and indications are that the audience likes what it is hearing. The station finished third in the market with 11.7% share, compared with 10.9% share at the same time last year.

It has been a strong year for the 891 ABC Adelaide Breakfast program, with Matthew Abraham and David Bevan winning the Breakfast timeslot in three surveys during 2012 and not falling below third place in the market.

The 891 Drive program presented by Michael Smyth also ended the year on a high, gaining 1.5 share points to reach 10.5% share in the 4pm – 7pm timeslot this survey – the highest share in 891 Drive since survey 6, 2009.

ABC Local Radio SA Content Manager Graeme Bennett said “891 has established a new line up in 2012, with Sonya Feldhoff in Afternoons and Michael Smyth in Drive. We’re delighted our audience has quickly taken them to their hearts and, for the first time since 2008, we’ll go into the new year unchanged.”

“There have been some great highlights in 2012, with Matthew Abraham and David Bevan continuing to challenge and surprise breakfast audiences and winning three surveys. Peter Goers achieved a career goal in taking top spot in Evenings in Survey 8 from the perennial Bob Francis.”

“In 2013, our aim will be to again play an important role in the community, contributing not just as broadcasters, but as proud South Australians”.

891 ABC Adelaide’s 2013 line up returns in full on Monday January 21: 6-9am Breakfast with Matthew Abraham and David Bevan, 9-11am Mornings with Ian Henschke, 11am-12pm Conversations with Richard Fidler, 1-4pm Afternoons with Sonya Feldhoff, 4-6pm Drive with Michael Smyth, 7-10pm Evenings with Peter Goers, Weekends with Ashley Walsh and SA Grandstand with Peter Walsh and Matt Clinch.
