Stations flock to cover Tamworth Country Music Festival

As with every year, the Tamworth Country Music Festival draws regional radio stations and programs from all over Australia to broadcast the highlights of the Australian country music.

This year, CRN’s the Good Morning Country, ABC’s Saturday Night Country and the Kix network will be the main stations providing listeners with comprehensive coverage of the festival.

Good Morning Country will be broadcast live from the festival, 5am-9am from Monday 19th Jan to Friday 23rd Jan. CRN will also clear their regular programming to air the Golden Guitar awards live on the evening of Saturday 24th Jan.

Saturday Night Country have a special event broadcast from the Tamworth Pub on Friday 23rd Jan with special guests. The event will be hosted on by Catherine Britt, an Australian country musician whose father and grandfather have both been heavily involved in Newcastle radio.

Britt said,“My grandad was on radio in Newcastle – that was his job. He was quite well known in the Hunter as a radio presenter. And then, my dad did radio, that’s how I got into meeting a lot of the country artists, my dad had a country show when I was in my early teens.”

The Kix Network Manager Rick Hose says his team are looking forward to bring listeners all the action. “Our commitment to Tamworth starts with a massive outside event at the Longyard Hotel over the weekend of the 17th and 18th January and then the focus will turn to Peel Street in the CBD with our program coming from the Tamworth Regional Council Administrative Centre for the duration of the Country music Festival.”

The festival is the biggest country music event in Australia and you can find out more information on it here.
