Station welcomes Fairlie back to the fold

Former i98 presenter Fairlie Hamilton is returning to the station to co-host the Breakfast slot with Marty Haynes.

Hamilton, who is well-known to listeners from her previous six-year stint at the station, had no doubts about taking up an offer to rejoin the crew, having missed the amazing Illawarra lifestyle during her recent travels.

“I took a career break to work and live in London for two years. In that time I travelled so much and loved every minute, but never found anything quite like Wollongong,” Hamilton said. “The lifestyle is amazing and I know for a fact there’s nowhere more beautiful in the world to live – the escarpment, the beaches, and the tight community vibe which we see on full display every Convoy.”

Hamilton was approached about the gig by i98 Content Director Lachlan Kitchen who had followed her career.

“Recently, she’s been presenting shows Australia-wide on the Nova Network. I knew the lure of coming home to Wollongong would be strong enough to get her back to i98,” he said.

Breakfast co-host Marty Haynes is excited about the challenge ahead and predicts some fun for both the hosts and the audience.

“Fairlie is a great girl and she’s well-versed in the magic of radio. It’s always intriguing to blood-in a new partner and I know we’ll have fun but I wish her luck with the 4:30am alarm. That’s the one thing that never gets any easier.”

Marty and Fairlie’s first day on-air will be Monday July 13
