Stars Line up for MUSICOZ Awards

Australia’s leading music artists are coming together for the largest music awards for unsigned artists to be held at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong (NSW) on Saturday November 15.

Headlining the awards show will be multiple ARIA award winners “The Superjesus” who will be joined by Amity Dry, Christine Anu, “Sick puppies”, “The Borderers” and Nikki Webster. Special guest presenters such as Lee Kernaghan, Deni Hines, Doug Mulray and Jimmy Little will light up the stage, with three stages in operation during the gala event.

“The Superjesus” will be leading the line-up on the night. With multiple ARIAs under their belt and their third album “Rock Music” hitting the charts, The Superjesus are one of Australia’s top music exports. Amity Dry from the hit WIN/ Channel Nine show “The Block” will be performing on the night singing her hit “The Lighthouse” from her gold album of the same name. Amity currently has a new single out “Start of Something New”.

Billed as Australia’s premier music awards for unsigned artists, the Musicoz Awards have attracted interest from all over the country with more than six thousand entries of original music from independent artists flooding in from every state in Australia.

There is no age restriction to enter the Awards and musicians were invited to enter in one or all of the following categories: Pop, Rock, Metal / Hardcore, Jazz, Aboriginal TSI, Blues, Classical, Schoolies, R&B & Soul, Hip Hop / Rap, Dance, Country, Alternative Rock, Acoustic Rock, Folk, Gospel, World Music, Punk.

An audience in the thousands is expected to attend the Awards hosted by WIN/ Nine’s Leah McLeod (“D.I.Y Rescue”) and Caleb Packham (“The Camera Trap”) to cheer on the 25 winners who will be announced on the night. The Musicoz Awards will also be recorded by WIN Television, and will be broadcast around regional Australia on November 29, giving finalists a real opportunity to get noticed.

The last group of finalists have now been announced in the Pop and Alternative categories. The finalists in these categories were drawn from entries across Australia and will join 80 other finalists all competing for a chance to break into the industry.

Musicoz is a project managed by Wollongong City Employment Training (WCET), a non-profit, government-funded organisation which has been running for only three years, giving unsigned bands, singers and writers real opportunities in the music industry. Since its inception Musicoz has grown rapidly, now attracting a high calibre of talent and demanding the attention of industry heavy-weights. The fundamental principle of Musicoz is to assist with developing the grass roots of the music industry by encouraging those who are struggling to carve out careers for themselves. In just two years, Musicoz has four signed record deals to its credit and continues to attract an ever-growing list of dedicated industry supporters.

Tickets to the Musicoz Awards at the WIN Entertainment Centre are available through 132 849 or www.ticketek.com.au

Musicoz is supported by the Australian music industry and funded by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
