Spirit Radio Network gets a World Tour of Country

West Australian broadcaster Justin Thomson is on a mission to raise the profile of modern Country Music to commercial radio listeners.

He is hosting World Tour of Country, a new program on the Spirit Radio Network that will showcase Country Music from around the world.

“I have followed Country Music for as long as I remember, the genre has changed tremendously over the last 20 years or so and most people I speak to, including industry ‘experts’ simply have no idea about the current industry.”

“Unfortunately there is a stigma attached to Country Music that I want to try and break,” said Justin.

World Tour of Country will feature some familiar names including Keith Urban, Taylor Swift and Lee Kernaghan, but Justin is most excited about introducing American country names that don’t get Australian exposure.

“American country is lively, exciting and relatable, a lot of people will be hearing of some of these massive names for the very first time, and I’m happy to make those introductions,” he explained.

Australian artists are Justin’s other main focus.

“I have a lot of time for Australian country, The Wolfe Brothers are quite possibly the hardest working and most exciting act in Australian country these days and they will feature regularly on the program,” said Justin.

World Tour of Country debuts on the Spirit Radio Network across Western Australia on Sunday night, 22nd February at 7pm.
