SMPTE’s new website

The Australia Section of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers has established an online presence with a new web site, www.smpte.org.au.

SMPTE is encouraging people to visit the site for a look. SMPTE members wishing to make changes will be directed to the SMPTE International site to enable synchronisation between the International and Australia Section databases.

The site will provide members with information about upcoming events, Society and industry news, and web site changes.

SMPTE was founded in 1916 to advance theory and development in the motion imaging field. The Australia Section was the first founded outside of the United States and has over 400 members across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific.

There are more than 6500 SMPTE members spread throughout 85 countries. As well, over 250 Sustaining (Corporate) Members belong to SMPTE, allowing networking and contacts to occur on a larger scale. Touching on every discipline, the Society’s members include engineers, technical directors, cameramen, editors, technicians, manufacturers, educators, and consultants.
