SEA FM farewells Gold Coast breakfast favourites

After five years together on the air, SEA FM’s Galey and Charli will not be returning to Sea FM Breakfast radio in 2017.

Both Galey and Charli will be pursuing different interests come next year.

Calling Sea FM home for the past 16 years, Paul Gale has been the voice the Gold Coast wakes up to each and every morning, but come 2017 he will get a well-deserved sleep in and follow new opportunities.

Galey said, “I’ve been working in radio for 28 years of which the last 22 years straight have been in a breakfast shift. It’s the last 16 years with Sea FM Gold Coast that I cherish the most dearly.

“Waking up with the people of the Gold and Tweed Coast’s has been so rewarding, it’s been such a great experience. We have all laughed and cried together, so many people have made an impact on my life and they don’t even realise. It’s a decision I’ve been thinking about for some time and the idea of waking up a little later and starting a new chapter is really exciting for me, so stay tuned. I can’t wait to let you all know when the next chapter starts”.

Co-host Charli Robinson has plans to return to the small screen full-time next year. Having worked both locally and nationally across the Hit Network, Charli has provided great insight and content to the Southern Cross Austereo radio network.

Charli said, “I’m sad to be leaving Sea FM breakfast whilst being very excited about my TV show next year. I’ve had so much fun working in radio from hosting Lady Gaga on stage, Scoopla and many wonderful local events. I’m honoured to have been able to connect with so many Gold Coasters on such a personal level each and every morning alongside Galey.

“I’ve really opened up and exposed all I am to the Gold Coast and that has been an incredible journey. Now that radio is in my blood I would love to still have a place behind the microphone in the future.”

Gold Coast’s General Manager Alison Geale said, “Both Galey and Charli have made a difficult decision to not return to Sea FM breakfast next year. When we reflect on the hundreds of ways that the Breakfast team have contributed to the Gold Coast, it is literally inspiring.

“A lot of our Sea FM listeners have grown up with either Paul on the radio every morning or Charli on the TV. They both have contributed so much of their time, energy and ideas to creating great breakfast radio and developing a true community spirit amongst the Sea FM listeners.

Both Galey and Charli remain friends of the Sea FM family, we respect their decision and we wish them every success.”

Galey & Charli will remain on Sea FM breakfast until a final show date is released.
