Another Fairfax station is in the news this week, 6PR.
Howard Sattler has reached a confidential settlement with his former employer after being sacked in July 2013.
The former 6PR morning announcer was sacked for his line of questioning to former Prime Minister
Julia Gillard, asking if her partner Tim was gay. See our
earlier report.
Sattler was seeking damages of $500,000 for the six months left of his contract. The details of the settlement were not made public.
6PR released a statement saying:
“Today we reached a confidential settlement with Howard Sattler regarding his claims against Radio 6PR. We are pleased the matter is now settled and wish Howard all the best. We won’t be commenting any further.”
'Confidential' means 6PR was given the edict by the newly merged Fairfax/Macquarie radio conglomerate to 'make this go away.' It also means Howie accepted a fraction of the half million he was counting on. The station writes this off as (another) business loss. Howie saves face with the illusion - not perception - of vindication, and undoubtedly only enough cash to catch up on a few bills.
