SAFM translator frequency change extended

The ABA is proposing to extend the time period for SAFM’s Adelaide Foothills translator to change its operating frequency from FM 91.1 to FM 90.3.

The extension, by 6 months, will give Austereo more time to implement the frequency change, without affecting the auction date of Adelaide’s next commercial licence which is scheduled to go under the hammer in September 2003.

The ABA determined the Adelaide licence area plan on 6 September 2001 when it decided to make one additional commercial radio service available two years after the gazettal date of the licence area plan, which was 19 September 2001.

In order to make the additional service available, the SAFM translator service that serves the Adelaide Foothills, was required to change frequency within 12 months, but last month, Austereo sought permission to extend the date to 31 March 2003.

Anyone wishing to comment on the proposed change can do so by 5 August 2002 to the ABA. For details call 1800 810 241.
