‘Rumour Feast’ raises $170,00 for child protection

Melbourne radio station 3AW held it’s 10th Annual Rumours Feast last Friday night at the Plaza Ballroom, raising more than $170,000 for the Child Protection Society (CPS).

More than 450 guests and sponsors attended the event, hosted by 3AW breakfast hosts Ross Stevenson and John Burns.  Former Australian fast bowler Damien Fleming kept the audience entertained with a few cricketing stories, while Herald Sun crimer writer Andrew Rule shared a few of his own stories.  RockWiz quiz master Brian Nankervis as also on hand to introduce a video he made at the Heidelberg CPS Child and Family Centre, featuring kids of all ages answering some of life’s big questions.

Colleen Hewett closed the event, adding “If we don’t look after the kids we’re stuffed.”  Hewett is very passionate about the CPS, and this was reflected in a spine tingling performance which also featured a sing-along with the 3AW team.

“The 10th Annual 3AW Rumours Feast with 3AW’s Breakfast duo of Ross Stevenson and John Burns has become somewhat of an institution on Melbourne’s event calendar. With an audience of more than 450, we have raised in excess of $170,000 for Child Protection Services which is an exceptional result, ” said 3AW Operations Director Stephen Beers.
