Rock royalty joins Double J

Australian Rock Royalty, Bernard Fanning, Tim Rogers and Alan Brough, step up to the mic on Double J this month.

LUNCH with TIM ROGERS, 11am-2pm Mon 8 Fri 12 May

Musician, actor, writer, raconteur and You Am I frontman, Tim Rogers, (pictured) is a national treasure. In 2015 Rogers’ was awarded Double J’s Australian Artist of the Year for his outstanding contribution to music. Now he
adds ‘radio host’ to that repertoire as he takes over Lunch on Double J all next week, while Myf is away hosting Eurovision. Each day, Rogers will bring us his latest music discoveries, as well interview some Double J faves, like Underground Lovers and Living Colour.

LUNCH with ALAN BROUGH, 11am-2pm Mon 15 & Tues 16 May

Alan Brough is an actor, author, broadcaster, composer, comedian, musician and professional music nerd. Perhaps best known for his role as team captain on Spicks and Specks alongside Myf Warhurst, Alan now steps into his old co-host’s shoes, to host Lunch on Double J while Myf is away.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE with BERNARD FANNING, 3-5pm every Sunday in May
Bernard Fanning
is one of Australia’s best-loved songwriters and performers, through his incredible work as both frontman of Powderfinder and as a critically-acclaimed solo artist. This month, he also joins Double J as Artist in Residence.

Fanning will share his personal music collection and extensive knowledge every Sunday in May, curating four diverse programs. Melody & Ritmo will be a globally-minded selection of songs which use melody and rhythm to get a point across; Heartbreakers & Balltearers will juxtapose sweet songs with sour; Duos & Collabs will showcase vocal collaborations which proved to be greater than the sum of their parts and Country & Rock will throw a spotlight on the finest exponents of a thriving scene.

Fanning’s exclusive playlists and in-depth discussion will span artists like Aretha Franklin, Anderson .Paak, Talking Heads, Rodriguez, Cold Chisel, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch and Lucinda Williams, as well as duos Ike & Tina Turner, Tupac & Dr Dre and of course Kasey Chambers & Bernard Fanning.
