Rex Hunt to make commentary comeback

A special 3AW broadcast on Saturday will mark Rex Hunt’s 50 years in football as a player and caller, after making his VFL debut with Richmond in 1968.

This weekend’s Collingwood vs St Kilda clash will see Hunt return to the 3AW commentary box, confirmed this morning by Ross and John, ‘Is it so, Rexy?’

“There will be a little bit of fun, but the game is the most important thing,” Hunt said.

‘I wasn’t over comfortable with it, because I think once you’re finished, you’re finished, but  [3AW Director Operations] Stephen Beers said “look, you’re coming home, it’s been 50 years, you’ve been awarded AFL life membership, we’d like you to call the game and this is the one you’ll call.'”

In relation to the upcoming match, Hunt employed a familiar Huntism, declaring “St Kilda is shizen hausen at the moment. Collingwood? Well they went down (on Sunday) and their season is on the line.”
