Radio’s volunteers saluted

It is National Volunteer Week and a series of videos have been released celebrating the contributions of community radio’s volunteers.

20,000 Australians (or 0.1 percent of the population) are believed to be involved as volunteers in the community radio sector on a regular basis, and volunteers account for more than $145 million in unpaid work each year. Nationally, according to Wikipedia more than 7 million Australians (or 45 percent of people over 15) listen to community radio each month.

This Is Community Radio” showcases and celebrates community radio and the contribution it makes to Australia’s society, democracy and culture.
