Radio’s nicest couple celebrate 10 years

It’s been 10 years since Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller were manacled together to take on the Breakfast show at WSFM.

On air, on Friday morning they each chose a song to dedicate to the other for this magnificent milestone. Amanda chose Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler. Jonesy chose Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong by the Spin Doctors

Amanda was crestfallen that Jonesy could be so mean to choose such derogatory song title on their 10 th anniversary. Jonesy thought his song was apt and that the joke was on her. Putting it to a vote from listeners, Amanda won. Which only went to prove Jonesy’s point.

With one lucky listener guaranteed to win a Peugeot  plus a chance to win a million dollars, hundreds of competition winners  braved Sydney’s summer showers to be at Luna Park for Jonesy & Amanda’s Party of the Decade.

The insurance company was happy enough, no one won the million.

Even though your faithful correspondent is not accustomed to waking prior to the crack of noon, he not only braved the ungodly hour, the rain and the traffic but arrived shortly before 8 am just to revel in the entertainment and what was euphemistically called “fairground food,” the highlight of which was Jonesy & Amanda cupcakes – of which I did not partake because I’m trying to avoid sugar. Fat lot of good it’s done me so far.

If Amanda and Jonesy were a kingdom in Disneyland, they’d surely be Fantasy Land, “the happiest kingdom of them all.” Judging by the happy throng of lisetners at Friday’s event, few would disagree.

The entertainment which included sets from Shannon Noll, Paulini and Icehouse was fabulous and celebrity guests such TV chef Miguel Maestre, ex-rugby league player turned media personality Beau Ryan, rounded out the morning’s festivities.

To top off the morning, Shannon Noll took to the stage to present Jonesy & Amanda a specially made, cake to mark their 10 years on air together, which I’m told was delicous (I didn’t taste it because I’m off sugar) Noll then led the crowd in a rollicking rendition of Happy Birthday.
