Radio Survey 1, just one sleep away

It could well be a sleepless night for radio teams with the first survey for 2016 out tomorrow.

The final survey for 2015 produced both good and bad for everyone, especially for the major commercial FM stations.

For ARN, KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O bounced back but Jonesy and Amanda took a tumble on WSFM.

The Nova network remained number one under 40 and could boast the number one Drive show with Kate, Tim and Marty against more fancied opposition in Hamish & Andy (hit) and Hughesy & Kate (KIIS).

They also had the number one national evening show, Smallzy’s Surgery.

SCA had modest hopes for 2Day FM and its newly installed breakfast show, Rove & Sam in Sydney while Triple M and its Grill Team held their ground.

The standout for them was FOX in Melbourne which kicked away from the pack to be a clear number one on the FM band. But that success was tempered by the relatively poor performance from the hitherto dominant Triple M.

But 2016 is a clean slate with new shows ensconced and almost 8 weeks of programming under their belts.

In Melbourne all eyes will be on Nova 100’s new breakfast shows Chrissie, Sam & Browny and KiiS 101.1’s Matt and Meshel.

Historically, Melbourne has been considered to be a less volatile radio market than Sydney but in more recent times Melbourne’s where the game is well and truly on.

Yet, SCA will be keen to know if their investment in Rove and Sam in Sydney against Kylie and Jackie O has paid off and have Hamish and Andy managed to regain their drive shift crown at the expense of Kate, Tim and Marty?

Sleep tight.
