Radio bids goodbye to paper colleagues

Comment from Scott Mayman

I usually spend an hour or so on a Sunday afternoon preparing for my regular Monday morning breakfast shift on Radio 97 \ FM104.1 Tweed Gold Coast.

It feels strange, knowing that today will be my final Sunday, viewing content ahead of the final hard copy publication of the Tweed Daily newspaper and Gold Coast SUN community papers.

It’s sad, knowing that such heritage will be lost.

It’s been delightful to work with the crew at these papers.

Eventhough I’m in broadcast media and they’re in print media, together we’ve built up a very strong relationship and have worked together on many a project.

That comes to an end this week when the papers go to press for the final time.  I feel incredible sorrow for my colleagues at these papers who are losing their jobs.  I’ve been there before so I know what they are feeling.  These guys have done nothing wrong, but show commitment, loyalty and pride in the regional areas they have served.

I wish you all the very best for the future…
