Programming resumes after power outage

Real FM in Mudgee was knocked off air overnight.

The station along with 400 other customers lost power, ironically it had nothing to do with a fierce storm that swept through the area bringing with it heavy rain, hail and strong winds.

Breakfast Announcer Mel Heldon noticed the station was off as she was driving to work.

” We couldn’t even jump on and broadcast in case the power came back on because the backup had failed and we had no computers – couldn’t even boil the jug for coffee,” she said.

Power was restored at 7.15am but after just 5 minutes was off-air again for a further 10 minutes.

“We thought…Oh no! Here we go again.”

The energy provider is yet to determine the cause of the outage.

In the meantime commercials have been “made up” and normal programming resumed.
