Nova links with The National Drugs Campaign to put Australian bands first

Following the success of Nova’s I Am With The Band last year, the Australian Government’s National Drugs Campaign has partnered with the music based promotion to offer emerging artists the opportunity to propel their careers.

In 2010 over 1000 bands entered their original tracks in I Am With The Band for the opportunity to showcase their music to a commercial audience and kick start their careers.

Last year’s winners, Adelaide band The Touch said, “I Am With The Band raised our profile, particularly nationally, and gave us great opportunities to play both local and interstate gigs. We built a strong relationship with the Nova Adelaide team and continue to receive local radio play and perform at Nova live gigs.”

To register bands head to www.novafm.com.au and upload an original track. Ten shortlisted bands, selected by an industry judging panel, will receive exposure on Nova, the opportunity to perform at Nova events and feature in partner media channels – moshtix and Street Press Australia. The winning band will be determined by popular vote, registered through novafm.com.au, and will score $10,000 cash.

The National Drugs Campaign will use I Am With The Band as a platform for educating young Australians about the risks and harms of illicit drug use. During the competition, youth will be encouraged to ‘face facts’ about ecstasy, such as you never know what’s in it.

I Am With The Band launches on Monday 7 February with registrations closing on Sunday 13 March. The 10 finalists will be announced on 21 March.
