Nova 106.9 takes on Prostate Karaoke for Men's Health Week

Friday 15 June, 2018
Nova 106.9 breakfast team, Ash, Kip & Luttsy, along with sports broadcaster, Mitch "The Prince" Lewis and station boss / Program Director, Jay "KJ" Walkerden, got behind Men's Health Week and the 'ManDate initiative' by participating in Prostate Karaoke. Prostate Karaoke involves each participant performing a song while getting their prostates examined by a registered GP and being filmed.

Ash sang Elvis's 'Can't Help Falling in Love with You' , Kip took on Adele's 'Rolling In The Deep' (and declared "this may not be pretty, but it's necessary'), and  Luttsy sung The Pussycat Dolls' 'Loosen Up My Buttons Babe'.

The Nova Brisbane co-hosts wanted to use humour to de-stigmatise prostate checks and encourage listeners to call their GP.

"We love to have a laugh at Nova, but there's a serious side to this," Walkerden said.

"More than 3,500 men will die of prostate cancer this year but it's very curable if detected early, so we wanted to show how easy it is to call your GP and get the test!"
