Nostalgic romp recalls radio’s golden age

Rewind to 1959 when radio was yet to be knocked off its perch by TV as the dominant mass medium.

People listened to, rather than watched, drama and serials. The unsung heroes were the sound effect magicians evoking galloping horses with a pair of coconut shells and thunder storms from sheets of metal.

Murder on the Wireless pays tribute to radio’s golden days and especially to its sound effects artists.
