No News is Good News for 97.3FM’s Hinksy

Hinksy is a 4 time radio award winning presenter and interviewer on top rating Brisbane radio station 97.3FM. He regularly speaks to some of the world’s biggest celebrities and also takes to the big screens at every Brisbane Roar home game at Suncorp Stadium as their game day host.

From hanging out of helicopters, to skydiving and swimming with sharks, Hinksy is looking forward to his next adrenalin inducing challenge, taking to the stage for his Brisbane musical debut in No News is Good News

Hinksy will dance, act and attempt to sing his way through this riotous musical that takes audiences behind the scenes of TV News. He plays Glen, the egotistical lead male news reader for the WTN News Channel 4 team, and as an irresistible ladies man, believes women cannot refuse him. Primetime news has never been this funny.

Brisbane playwright, Damien Lee, who worked for nearly 8 years with a major Australian TV Network, has written “No News Is Good News”. This account bears some resemblance to his experiences in a real TV News Studio: “Live crosses that went horribly wrong, autocue failing mid broadcast, cameramen naked in the studio, crew under the desk while the newsreader was live on air, and of course, what you don’t see the on air talent wearing under the desk.”

It’s a fast-paced, laugh-a-minute musical comedy filled with hit songs, and tongue-in-cheek humour that pokes fun at everything… and everyone.

Brisbane listeners can join the 6 o’clock news team as they battle for ratings, survive equipment malfunctions, love and lust after each other, and get into downright awkward situations in the wackiest newsroom on the planet.

No News Is Good News, plays at Studio Theatre & Café at Morningside. It opens June 7 for a strictly limited season.  www.studiotheatre.com.au
