This Monday the wait is over for Canberra fans who have been anticipating the return to the airwaves of Nigel ‘Nige’ Johnson who takes up the Drive shift on MIX 106.3.
Nige has been familiar on Canberra radio for over 18 years broadcasting on nearly every shift from midnight to dawn, the Hot 30 Countdown, his own Drive show and most recently 8 years on Breakfast radio.
After 3-months of catching up on sleep Nige is re-charged and ready to go, Nige says, “I’m almost out of money to buy cat food and video games, so it’s time to come back to work. And this time I’m on MIX 106.3, so I’ll be playing music we can all get behind!”
Listeners to Nige’s show, new and old can look forward to the return of his signature segments, ‘Don’t Ask Bossy, Ask Nige’ and ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ along with a new features such as, ‘Nige’s Threeme Change’ plus a few others that Nige has been road testing ready to roll out.
Drive with Nige runs weekdays from 3 – 7pm, live and local on MIX 106.3.
Great that Canberra isn't subjected to networking on both its FM stations for drive.
The 3pm Pickup, Hughesy & Kate, Kyle & Jackie O highlights could have easily been scheduled.
Interesting to read Nige was once on midnight to dawn, what announcers today when they reach 18 years in a market can say they've looked after a midnight to dawn shift? Sadly none. Radio is an essential information and companion tool, it should be live and local every hour of the day.
