Newcastle online radio station New 2UW faces the music over "financial difficulties"

Personalities including Newcastle councillor and former ABC radio presenter Carol Duncan, local music guru Mark Tinson, entertainment entrepreneur Steven Pickett and public relations consultant Tracy McKelligott are among staff who have not been paid for months, some since the station started in October last year.

The locally owned online station, dubbed The New 2UW, went live on October 8 and was the brainchild of airwaves stalwart and station operator David Sayers who told the Herald on Tuesday that a group of staff were owed about $80,000 and he was "actively working" to secure backing to ensure they were paid.
