New Radio Services for Coober Pedy and Roxby Downs

The Australian Broadcasting Authority has decided to make frequencies
available for new permanent community radio services in Coober
Pedy and Roxby Downs. The
Coober Pedy community radio service will operate on 104.5
MHz. The Roxby Downs community radio service will operate
on 105.5 MHz.

The
ABA’s decisions are contained in its new licence area plans
for community radio in Coober Pedy and Roxby Downs.

“The
ABA has taken into account the views of those who made submissions
before deciding on the most beneficial mix of new services
to be made available in the Coober Pedy and Roxby Downs areas,”
said Professor David Flint, ABA Chairman.

Dusty
Radio have expressed interest in providing a permanent community
radio service in Coober Pedy. Dusty Radio has been operating
under a temporary community broadcasting licence (TCBL) since
1999.

 
104.5 MHz from Coober Pedy Area School SA, with a maximum
effective radiated power (ERP) of 100 W (omni-directional
with vertical polarisation).

5ROX
Community Radio have expressed interest in providing a permanent
community radio service in Roxby Downs. 5Rox Community Radio
has been operating under a TCBL since 2001.

Channel
capacity is made available as follows:

105.5 MHz from Richardson Place, Roxby Downs SA, with
a maximum ERP of 100 W (omni-directional with vertical polarisation).
