New Corporate identity for 98.5 Sonshine FM

On Australia Day, Perth’s Christian radio station 98.5 Sonshine FM celebrated its 15th birthday and unveiled a new logo.

Sonshine FM has “grown to become one of the largest community stations in the nation, and its premier Christian broadcaster,” according to its General Manager.

To “mark its adolescence, 98.5 Sonshine FM has been given a new identity” – a rebranding effort resulting in a new logo and corporate identity.

General Manager Barry Grosser says: “We are excited by the freshness of the new ‘face’ of Sonshine FM. With the work of Leederville-based graphic design agency Street Design, the entire package includes stationery, signage, advertising, email and online, and captures the spirit of 98.5 Sonshine FM as a life-giving, relevant, uplifting radio experience of quality.”

The brief of the identity change was to increase the public recognition of the Sonshine FM brand with a fresh logo that strengthened the ‘98.5’ FM dial position.

The broadcaster’s current positioning statement – ‘no greed, no ridicule, no hurt’ has been retained. The blue, white and lime colour scheme “differentiates the station in the Perth radio landscape.”

The ‘ribbon explosion’ evolved out of the green flowing feature around the 98.5 frequency. “This element alone captivated our imagination as soon as we saw it. We feel it communicates the joy and vibrancy we aim to transfer to our listeners,” says Grosser.
