New 2 DAY FM breakfast lineup announced

Peter Helliar and Kaz Cooke will join fellow comedian Judith Lucy on 2DayFM’s new Breakfast show and Jamie Angel will move from Drive to anchor the program.

The new team will kick off in early January 2004.

Judith Lucy told radioinfo:

“If I’m going to bring this station down I’m not going to do it on my own, I’m wrapped that Kaz Cooke, Peter Helliar and Jamie Angel have agreed to come on board.

“No late nights, no drinking during the week, fiercely competitive market, seeing a lot less of my partner, getting up at four in the morning…Why did I decide to do breakfast radio? I guess I really want to ruin my life… and if its good enough for me its good enough for Peter, Kaz and Jamie. What are friends for?”

Lucy said she is aware of “the back-breaking work” her friend Wendy Harmer put into this program. She believes she is “nowhere near as good as Wendy.” Judith Lucy says she’s “here for a good time not a long time and I’m sure we’ll have some laughs along the way.”

2Day will be announcing more details about the show in coming weeks after Wendy Harmer finishes at the end of November.

Peter Helliar was part of the original Rove Live team and will continue working with that program. He is heard on 2-Day with Rove McManus and Corinne Grant on the Saturday Morning Rove show.

Kaz Cooke started out as a journalist, then became a cartoonist and then went on to become one of Australia’s most successful columnists and authors. She worked with Judith on Austereo’s Foxy Ladies Sunday morning program during 1998.
