Neil Mitchell now knows what it is like to be the subject of the rumour mill.

Yesterday on his morning program he responded to rumours going around town that he would be appointed editor of the Melbourne Age and would be replaced by Steve Price.

He is not moving back to his old newspaper stomping ground and will be staying at 3AW.

“The rumour… is wrong,” said Mitchell on his show this morning. He went on to say:

“I have not resigned and I have not accepted a job as editor of The Age or any other newspaper… Steve Price coming back, I couldn’t do that to you!”
