Special guest host Jon Faine, Mornings presenter, 774 ABC Melbourne and Libbi Gorr will host a Mulitcultural Museums Cook-Off this Sunday in front of a live audience. The Islamic Museum of Australia is hosting the very first Multicultural Museums Cook-off with participating museums; Hellenic Museum, Islamic Museum of Australia, Jewish Museum of Australia and Museo Italiano.
Inspired by Jon Faine’s “call to cook” – the highly anticipated Multicultural Museums Cook-off celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of Melbourne through a unique and exciting cooking extravaganza.
The Multicultural Museums Cook-off challenges the culinary skills of four vibrant, culturally diverse contemporary chefs to reinvent their traditional fare and present the most exciting fusions of Multicultural Melbourne.
Samira El Khafir will be representing the Islamic Museum of Australia. Samira is a cook, mother of three, author of Eat with Love, owner of Modern Middle Eastern Cafe, and the finalist of the 2013 series of MasterChef Australia. With a big personality, Samira cites her top three loves as her girls, shoes and bags. Samira says her mother’s cooking is the best food she has ever eaten and her love of food has grown from family get-togethers throughout her life.
Samira says: “My love and passion for food has come because it builds bridges between cultures and helps introduce others to my culture and heritage.”
Participating chefs include; Philip Vakos representing the Hellenic Museum, Alice Zaslavsky representing the Jewish Museum of Australia and Harrison Lockett representing Museo Italiano.
Special guests include VMC Chairperson Helen Kapalos, Co-host of network TEN’s The Project Waleed Aly, Food Writer and Editor Tania Cammarano and John Clearly from Sunday Nights ABC Local Radio.
