The most important thing is love: Robin Bailey farewells Triple M Brisbane

Emotions were running high on Robin Bailey’s final morning at Triple M Brisbane’s Big Breakfast.

Even the normally unemotional Marto got a little choked up when saying goodbye, something that he admitted was due to Robin teaching blokes that it is ok to show their feelings.

After a morning of memories, it came time to bid Robin a final farewell. She said:

I’m going to cry… I haven’t written anything down because in my world at the moment I don’t plan forward…

I’m leaving because my wonderful husband Sean has terminal cancer…

After working for so long in breakfast radio… being escorted out of other buildings… this is the first time I’ve walked away of my own accord and chosen that the time is right…

When [Triple M] picked me up I didn;t hav e a job and you didn’t have to. It was a risk and I don’t think anyone thought itk was going to work, I’m not a blokey bloke… but somehow in this studio we work in we found a way to respect each other and have a bloody good laugh along the way…

I’m so grateful for everything that you did for me, you allowed me to reinvent my career in a very different space and a very different audience…

If I never return to radio, I’ve ticked all then boxes, but, you know what, the most important thing in life is your family, the most important thing is love.

I walk away from this job going into the arms of the people I care about the most.
